How do you play it?
Everdell one of the most beautiful worker placement games I know. The goal is to make the most beautiful city. You do this by getting as many points as possible on buildings and animals in your city. It takes place from late winter to early winter, during the season changes you get more workers (rabbit, hedgehog, squirrel or turtle) and therefore more possibilities.
The cards show how many resources (wood, resin, stones or berries) you need to place the animal or building in your city. Animals are also linked to buildings so if you have one in your city you can take the other one at no resource cost, which in turn can provide various benefits. On the future tree you will find all goals, and on the board you will find events that give extra points.
The actions you perform are:
1 Place your workers
2 Play a card
3 Prepare for the next season
My opinion
For a beginner it will be a bit puzzling but you will definitely like the game when you understand how it all works. The theme, illustrations and how it is put together is just very beautiful, fun and good. As you can see I have the English version but there is also a Dutch version. It's been often on the table and is one of my favorites.
